Spoon Carving by Hand for Beginners

CAB artisan instructor Nick Grab will guide students as they learn to carve a basic cooking spoon from start to finish using only hand tools and fresh green “wet” wood. The course will focus on the safety, care & handling of the tools as well as wood grain, carving techniques, finishes and care of wood products. By the end of the course we hope that everybody will have a fully carved spoon that can later be lightly sanded & oiled, then be used daily in your kitchen or given as a gift to someone special. All tools and supplies will be provided for use during the class. Also provided to take home will be sandpaper & oil to care for the spoon later.
Due to the specialized nature of the instruction, this class will only be open to six students so you can be assured of individual instruction from the teacher. This class is for students ages 18 and up and each student will be provided with a limited liability release form to sign….before we hand you an axe!
