Crafted by Conscience examines the vibrant and vital role religion played in James K. Polk’s life and times. From 1820-1850, a national flowering of faith impacted everything from clothing to politics as Americans created a unique material culture born from their religious worldview.

Explore some of the diverse religious groups who experienced roots or revival in this period through the things they made or used in this original exhibition, featuring objects from sixteen museums and institutions across the country.
